Dr. Guy Meadows (PhD) believes that everyone can sleep naturally but we are just getting in the way of this natural process. For example if you ask a normal sleeper what they do to sleep they will tell you they do nothing, in contrast if you ask an insomniac they will give you a very long list. Essentially it is the ‘doing’ aspect or our natural tendancy to want to ‘fix’ the problem as we would do with any other problem we face in our lives that pushes sleep further away. I am sure you have all experienced a situation where you have tried to ‘fix’ unwanted thoughts by trying to block them out only to realise that you have made them worse. Sleep is exactly the same because the more you ‘try’ to make yourself sleep the further sleep goes away.

With that in mind, Dr. Guy Meadows offers a FREE Insomnia Prevention class to discuss the normal approaches to fixing your sleep and how they could be getting in the way or even making things worse.

This 1.5 hour class will give you the chance to understand a little bit about sleep and what you can do to actually improve it without the use of drugs. The class covers areas such as the importance of good sleep and how therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment, Mindfulness Based Cognitive, Sleep Restriction and Stimulus Control can be effective tools in the prevention of insomnia.

If you are thinking of doing any of Guy’s successful insomnia prevention plans then it will be a great time to meet him in person and ask any questions about the programme.

Free Classes in 2010

The free classes will be held on the following Thursdays throughout 2010.

The classes start at 7pm at Gracelands Yard and are limited to 12 people so (enquire now) to avoid dissapointment.
